Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden Celebrates the Year of the Horse with All Communities

A tradition for the past decades, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden ushered in Lunar New Year and the Year of the Fire Horse in style with fun, family-friendly activities featuring unique cultural performances and demonstrations, delicious food, and traditional arts and crafts.

The Year of the Horse signified a dynamic period of rapid change, action, freedom, and bold, fast-paced breakthroughs. The Year of the Fire Horse occurs only once every 60 years. The Garden buzzed with activities during the weekend of February 21 and 22, welcoming people of all ages, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds.

Providing a perfect backdrop for the celebrations, the Garden was adorned with vibrant red lanterns symbolizing good fortune and prosperity. The melodic sounds of the Chinese guzheng filled the air, creating memorable and Instagram-worthy moments for visitors enjoying this special cultural celebration.

“Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden is not just a tourist attraction; it is truly a cultural destination in the heart of historic Vancouver Chinatown and the perfect place to gather and celebrate Lunar New Year in a unique setting,” said Henry Heng Lu, Executive Director of the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. “Visitors enjoyed cultural festivities, traditional performances, and meaningful community connections throughout the celebration.”
