In anticipation of the 40th anniversary in April 2026, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden hosted an Immersive Ming Dynasty Fundraiser Gala – an extraordinary evening of “Renewal, Reconnection, and Reengagement” as they celebrated 39 remarkable years in the heart of Vancouver’s historic Chinatown. To amplify awareness and engagement, we curated an exclusive media and influencer preview tour, providing an exclusive first look at the Garden’s creative direction and upcoming Immersive Ming Dynasty Fundraiser Gala. We also invited media and influencers to attend the Gala, offering them a front-row experience of the Garden’s cultural storytelling and community impact. The campaign achieved 83 media coverages and engaged 28 influencers with a collective reach of more than 813,700 followers, generating strong visibility and positive engagement within the community. This event was an immersive cultural experience inspired by the tradition of the Ming Dynasty (from 1368 to 1644). Guests travelled back in time into a world of tradition and storytelling through exclusive experiences, including calligraphy demonstrations, Hanfu performances, live music, incense rituals, and tea ceremonies. A rare pop-up exhibition featured original architectural artifacts and archival photographs that highlight the Garden’s enduring legacy. The evening was designed to engage all five senses: touch, taste, hearing, sight, and smell through captivating performances, experiences, and a curated silent auction featuring unique items and experiences. Since its opening in 1986 featuring one of the biggest full-scale Suzhou-style gardens and the first one built outside of China, the Garden would not be successful without the unwavering support of the long-time supporters, the gala is the perfect opportunity to renew the shared commitment to preserving this cultural treasure. “We are extremely grateful for the support from the local community motivating us to continue with our ongoing conservation efforts and educational mission. The Garden is so much more than a tourist attraction, it brings culture, education, and participation through the many cultural festivities, performances and workshops, exhibitions, and wellness activities we host throughout the year,” says Henry Heng Lu, Executive Director of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden Society of Vancouver, “this curated and carefully crafted Gala is all about experiencing classical Chinese culture – it’s a fantastic opportunity to peek into what the Garden has to offer, not just on that evening, but year-round.” |
