16th Annual Winter Wonderland
Aspac Developments Ltd.
At the 16th Annual ‘Winter Wonderland Festival’, Aspac Developments Ltd. again participated in the ‘Tree Lighting Ceremony’ on November 26, 2016. Those in attendance included the Honorable Alice Wong, MP for Richmond Centre; the Honourable Teresa Wat, MLA for Richmond Centre, Minister of International Trade and Minister Responsible for the Asia Pacific Strategy and Multiculturalism; John Yap, MLA for Richmond Steveston; Richmond’s Mayor Malcolm Brodie, Councillors Derek Dang, Carol Day, Alexa Loo, Bill McNulty, Linda McPhail and community leaders, Rotary members, and others. Winter Wonderland is organized by the Richmond Sunset Rotary Club and proceeds from this year’s event will benefit various charitable programs and initiatives locally and abroad. Karen Tung, on behalf of Aspac Developments Ltd., joined the dignitaries in expressing gratitude for being able to play such a large part of this wonderful community event. Guests were then invited to join the Rotary Club members for some Christmas carolling accompanied by the talented Mayor Brodie on the piano. The event was completed by the lighting of the giant City Hall Holiday tree. As part of its dedication to giving back to the community, Aspac Developments Ltd. has been the ‘Event Sponsor’ for this celebration for the eighth year in a row sponsoring $10,000 each year towards this worthy cause. In keeping with the “charity within charity” tradition, Aspac Developments Ltd. presents a “Jingle Bells Ginger Pals” theme this year. With the help of 55 kids from the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC, the tree is decorated with 120 unique gingerbread men, bells, houses and a star tree topper. These fresh ornaments bring out the creativity and talent in the kids and it was an early festive celebration for all. The public can also donate to Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC to help them continue to serve over 12,000 children, youth, and families every year! The tree lighting ceremony marked the start of a display of 32 beautifully decorated trees supported by local businesses. The public were invited to visit the Richmond City Hall main floor area to vote for the best dressed tree. |
