The Vancouver Chinatown Foundation is thrilled to share that Taste of Chinatown! is back! The three-day festival will run from February 9 to 11 and will coincide with the Lunar New Year. This year’s event will feature a specialty food pop-up in the Chinatown Storytelling Centre, a Lunar New Year Parade, glowing lights and lanterns, walking tours, and a passport program that offers exciting prize draws, all throughout the 16 blocks surrounding Vancouver’s Chinatown. “At the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation, our focus is community building. We are committed to the revitalization of our neighbourhood and are thrilled to welcome back the Taste of Chinatown! Festival to celebrate Lunar New Year,” said Carol Lee, Chair of the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation. “We look forward to celebrating our shared history and invite you to attend all the Lunar New Year festivities happening around Chinatown.” Additionally, the Chinatown Storytelling Centre will host family-friendly activities throughout the weekend, including a dragon painting activity and an opportunity to meet one of the most popular figures in Chinatown, the God of Wealth. Activities will be free for youth (17 and under) and 50% off regular adult admission. To usher in the event's prominence this year, the media are invited to a media tour to preview the Taste of Chinatown and Lunar New Year events. This includes exploring the beautiful Chinatown, from restaurants to clothing stores homewares, and more! The event garnered wide media coverage from Global News, OMNI TV, Fairchild TV, Ming Pao, Sing Tao and more. The event also received substantial coverage from various well-known influencers on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, RedBook, and in the blogging community. Chinatown Storytelling Centre Vancouver’s Chinatown is one of Canada’s oldest neighbourhoods and the third-largest Chinatown in North America. To celebrate the historic significance, the Chinatown Storytelling Centre will project archival images of Lunar New Year celebrations of the past above its front doors on the Chin Wing Chun Society building.
