Strong Increase in Immigrant Languages

The increase in other languages in Canada is mostly due to the increase in immigrant languages, international migration being the main driver of population growth in the country. The number of people who reported an immigrant mother tongue rose from 6,838,715 in 2011 to 7,749,115 in 2016. This is an increase of 910,400 people or 13.3%.
