Merry Canada 150 Christmas: Come See the Canada-themed Christmas Tree at Richmond City Hall!

Picture
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Canada? Is it a maple leaf, hockey or beaver? Besides those Canadian symbols, how well do you know Canada?
As a country, Canada has 10 provinces and 3 territories. In this land of amazement, there is so much to explore and experience!

From now until December 25, 2017, visitors to the Richmond City Hall will be able to view 30 beautifully decorated Christmas trees participating in the annual Winter Wonderland organized by the Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset. Aspac Developments Ltd. presented their beautifully decorated Christmas tree for this year’s “Merry Canada 150 Christmas” theme during the opening ceremony of the 17th Winter Wonderland.

To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, Aspac Developments presents the “Merry Canada 150 Christmas” tree that features symbols of all of Canada’s 13 provinces and territories as a fun way to learn about the country we call home. Spectators will be able to see and learn about the official animal, flower and flag of each of Canada’s 13 provinces and territories.

In total 51 ornaments are hand-crafted to present the official animal, flower and flag of each of Canada’s 13 provinces and territories.

Did you know Canadian Horse is also our national animal?

For this year’s charity component, Aspac Developments will give back to the community in an educational manner that supports local elementary school libraries and promotes reading among youth. Through their donation of brand new Canadian books to elementary schools in Richmond Centre, each elementary school library will carry books dedicated to Canada and its 150th birthday. As the population at Richmond public schools is diverse, this will provide a fun and educational way for elementary school students to learn about Canada.
